Seminar Registrations

In order to register to one or more seminars you have to fill out the on-line registration form on our website . Once you have registered for a seminar/s you have 15 days to make a deposit. If after this short period of time (15 days) the payment of a deposit is still pending, you will receive a reminder e-mail in order to confirm your registration; then you will have 3 days more to proceed. In case no payment is done after these 3 days, your registration will be cancelled. In case no payment is done after these 3 days, your registration will be cancelled. This procedure facilitates the logistics of the seminars. 

You can now reserve a place at the seminar you are interested in, with a deposit of 50€ only!

Under certain circumstances and only in communication with the secretariat it is possible to do some arrangements.

The payment of the seminars need to be done by bank deposit. Confirmation of your registration will be sent upon payment to the bank account.

Seminars on Crete:

All seminar participants are kindly requested to state the time and way of their arrival to Heraklion as well as the time and way of their departure at least ten days before the beginning of the seminar. Information concerning your transportation from/to the airport or port will be sent to you via e-mail one week before of each seminar in condition that you have provided all the information concerning your arrival and departure.


  • Accommodation

Students who need accommodation services are kindly asked to inform us upon registration. Labyrinth provides only the reservation of the accommodations for free. Payment for the accommodation fee will be completed at your arrival to the Accommodations Coordinator. Labyrinth receives only the seminar fee. The students interested in accommodation will receive further instructions and information some days before their seminar.

Seminars on Crete:

The accommodation is at the village of your seminar in two-bed or three-bed shared rooms and the price depends on the room 10-15€ /night/bed. Additional cost: 5€/ week to the accommodation coordinator.

Seminars on Rhodes:

The accommodation is at the city of Rhodes in shared rooms and the price depends on the room (up to 15€/night/bed).



1.What is the payment deadline?

Βy filling in the on-line registration form, you enter the list of the seminar you are interested to participate. This pre-registration is valid for fifteen days, in case you don’t proceed to the payment by then, you will be reminded by e-mail. If you are still interested, you will have three days more to pay off the seminar fee. Otherwise, the reservation will be canceled.

You can now reserve a place at the seminar you are interested in, with a deposit of 50€ only!

Under certain circumstances and only in communication with the secretariat it is possible to do some arrangements.

[At your arrival in Crete be sure you have enough cash with you, there is no bank or ATM in the village of your seminar. The nearest ones are in the nearby villages (Peza, Archanes) and in Heraklion.]

3.Can I stay extra nights before and after my seminar (Crete)?

If you wish to stay extra nights, you can arrange your accommodation by yourself in one of the following hotels:

The available rooms in the Houdetsi village are limited so, students who participate in seminars are always in priority.

 *About Rhodes Island, there are a lot of available hotels around, in the city of Rhodes, where the seminars will take place!

4. What is the maximum number of participants in open seminars and Master Classes?

The number of students in open seminars can reach 20, while for Μaster Classes 12.


5. Is it possible to participate in more than one seminar per week?

Each seminar that we provide lasts 6 days. Seminars of the same week take place at the same hours which makes it impossible to be in two places at the same time.


6. Can I participate in half of the seminar? What is the price for this?

We don't suggest to participate in the half of the seminar because the balance in the class may be perturbated. In case you decide to do it anyway, the price of the seminar doesn't change.


7. Can I record or videotape the lessons?

You have permission to record or videotape the lessons for private and archival use.

8. Is there a required level in order to participate in the seminars and master-classes in Labyrinth? Can I attend if I am a beginner in an instrument or a musical tradition, or classes are for advanced musicians only?

The seminars and master-classes at the Musical Workshop Labyrinth are basically geared to musicians who are already at a medium level and above. The reason for this is that a beginner is much less able to absorb a large amount of information in a short space of time which will then be worked on over the intervening time until the next such encounter. Beginners usually need small amounts of information at regular intervals stretched over a long time.

Having said this however, we have observed that many people who are not at an advanced level and who might not understand or be able to participate in all that goes on in the seminar are nonetheless able to benefit from their participation to quite a considerable degree. This usually depends on the mindset of the student him/herself. Some people are not bothered by their inability to participate actively in all that goes on, and they are happy to simply observe and participate whenever and wherever possible.

For these people, participation in a seminar which works at a level more advanced than their own is usually beneficial. Other people, on the other hand, become anxious and uncomfortable when they are not able to participate in all aspects of the seminar. For these people we would recommend that perhaps they should wait until they reach a level that enables them to feel comfortable and thus be able to enjoy their participation without stress. In every case, we leave the decision entirely up to the student and we do not include or exclude people from seminars based on judgements concerning their level. The teachers are however instructed to work at the level of the medium to advanced students.

9. Do I have to be able to read music score in order to participate in the seminars? And if so what level of competence is required?

Each of the seminars and Master-Classes taught at the Musical Workshop Labyrinth is conducted in exactly the manner that each given teacher chooses. This is usually a reflection of the different teaching methods used in different cultures. These methods, often the result of centuries of experience, usually turn out to be the most efficient and successful for the tradition in question.

For this reason, the use of written scores is essential to certain seminars and completely unnecessary for others. Certain traditions rely heavily on written music whereas others do not make use of scores. We will give a clear indication such as "scores used" or "scores not used" so that the students will know in advance what is required of them. In most cases where reading skills are required, a basic level at which one reads fairly well a monophonic score will suffice. It is certainly not necessary to be able to read all of Bach's Art of Fugue prima vista!

10. Do I have to bring my own instrument or are there instruments to use at Musical Workshop Labyrinth?

The instruments of Musical Workshop Labyrinth are not available for the students to use. However, if you have problems bringing your own instruments, or if you want to buy one, we'll be happy to help you through our contacts.

11. How much does the taxi cost from the airport N. Kazantzakis to Houdetsi?

It should not cost more than 35€.
