What is currently going on
Zacharias Spyridakis | Cretan Lyra & “the Μusic of old Cretan Virtuosos”
Type of seminar: Open - Instrument Centered (Lyra in Cretan music and in relation to the other traditional instruments of the seminar (Laouto, Mandolino, Askomantoura, percussion)
Level of participants: All levels are welcome
Reading sheets: Not necessary
The seminar includes:
- A brief introduction to the instrument's history and introduction to the instrument.
- Tunings, techniques and representative repertoire.
- Familiarization with the different local music idioms of Cretan music through the thematic repertoire, which for this winter, will focus on the special way and character of the music of the old Cretan virtuosos as it survived from the oldest recorded material.
- Creation of music ensembles and traditional duos with any of the instruments which are taught the same week as Lyra.
