In this course, we will focus on three Ragas, Gunkali, Jaunpuri and Hamsadhwani.
We will look at compositions of these Ragas handed down by masters of earlier eras and see how these compositions sit in simple "Talas" which are rhythmic cycles.

This course focuses on the techniques of classical Arabic singing, in particular the repertoire of Muwashahat* from Aleppo and Egypt. This course is aimed at both beginners and intermediate levels, with some singing experience but not exclusively in classical Arabic singing. The course focuses on familiarization with the Maqams, the interpretation of the Muwashahat repertoire and rhythms, as well as the basics of oriental singing technique.

The tambour is the emblematic instrument of the Kurdish people of Iran. It is very important in both the folk and the sacred music of the Sufi order known as Ahl-e-Haqq (also known as Yarsani). This order was founded in the late 14th century by Sultan Sahak.

This course will focus on Armenian traditional and classical music. We will study the use of makam , as well as improvisations. The course will be taught on duduk, and the instructor will cover instrumental technique, however students who do not have a duduk and wish to learn Armenian repertoire are welcome to join on their respective instruments.

This seminar will focus on the Ney, the end-blown reed flute, key to certain musical traditions of Turkey, Iran and the Arab world. The seminar is open to all musicians playing Νey of all levels, as well as other instrumentalists looking to interprete the ney’s character to their instrument, or generally enhance their musicianship and familiarize with the world of Modal music through the study of pieces and improvisations.
