Type of Seminar: Open - Instrument Centered (Basically Ney, Kaval & relative instruments)
Level of participants: Basic
The ney is a characteristically simple instrument with a very long history. It has been played simultaneously used in sacred and urban court music, as well as in rural folk traditions. It has had a continuous presence in a variety of different musical traditions, but it also lends itself well to use in new contexts and in new musical traditions.
What is the ney and what is it not?
That is the central question of this seminar which we will examine. This search will begin from within ourselves and will extend to the limits of our perception.
